Dobropoljana

Dobropoljana is placed in the bay of the same name on the island of Pašman that is one of 300 islands of the Zadar archipelago, connected to the mainland and the town of Biograd by boat lines via the neighboring island of Ugljan.

It is situated on the northeastern side of the island, at the foot of the island's highest peak, Bokolj (274 m). Dobropoljana is a typical island settlement, where harmony has been achieved between the old architecture and the newly-constructed houses. First mentioned in 1270, it was intensely populated in the 17th century by refugees from the Zadar hinterland.

The basis of its economy is agriculture, viticulture, olive growing, fishing and maritime economy. The small port is protected against southern and western winds and provides a good shelter for small yachts. There is also a sandy beech very near to the village.

Krešimir Ćosić, a Croatian basketball player and coach, is descended from Dobropoljane as well.
